THE MAN BEHIND 'THE EDDIE' IS... GEORGE
Most everyone has heard of Eddie Aikau, the legendary surfer in whose memory the eponymous Eddie Aikau Big Wave Surf Competition is held. But the man who made the Aikau name synonymous with big surf is notoriously private. George Downing, director of the tournament is the man who decides whether or not the Eddie will go. He is a controversial figure in the surf industry because he calls the competition off more often than not. It has been held 9 times since it started in 1985, most recently in February, 2016. It turned out to be the best...and last Eddie Invitational. The Aikau family and Quiksilver dissolved their long-standing partnership for reasons that will be disclosed in the documentary.

YMCA, BAYVIEW-HUNTERS POINT, SAN FRANCISCO
Unlike most YMCA's, the Bayview-Hunters Point facility is a renowned incubator for educational programs for underprivileged youth. To communicate the impact the Y had on the community, Leeway Media chose to focus on the success of just one teenager, who was admittedly making all the wrong choices... until he walked into the Bayview Y. The video is used for outreach to current and potential donors to show the importance of supporting Bayview YMCA programs.
POSITIVE MEDIA PRESENCE
Teens need stories too...and not just the ones from school reading lists. Leeway Media works with a teenager and his family to create an online video presence for college admissions officers to view. The video is narrated on camera by the teen-ager who details some of his major life experiences. This teenager will be able to share his story and personality in a way that might no come through in a personal essay or transcript.
