As an Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter, Patti Lee has been live on the air for an estimated 10,000 hours, covering some of the biggest news events in the country. As an executive communications coach, Patti relies on what she learned as a journalist to teach the specifics skills required to connect with multi-generational audiences.
She developed her understanding of millennials while working as a news reporter and anchor in the San Francisco Bay Area. For a decade, she focused on covering technology and business stories, interviewing and interacting with the millennials who were dominating startup culture. It was clear there was a disconnect between Baby Boomers, GenX-ers and millennials but there weren't a lot of people who know what to do about it.
In 2015, Patti started coaching startup founders on how to share brand stories and best practices on pitching to press and potential investors. She knew from personal experience what it is like to be in the hot seat: She once pitched a portable kettle bell she helped design to a panel of judges on American Inventor.
Patti has since spent years researching effective communication techniques and the importance of knowing your audience. She believes getting to know your audience involves being active in your community. She is on the management team of the USA City Games, a Southern California startup, where she serves as Director of Marketing Communications. She was voted onto the Board of Managers of YMCA Bayview-Hunters Point in San Francisco and elected to five terms as Chapter President for the Asian American Journalists Association. She is currently a Northern California representative for her alma mater, Columbia University.
